USA: Yale University, one of the prestigious Ivy League institutions in the United States, has announced a need-based financial aid program that could allow students from low-income families to pursue a Bachelor’s degree completely free of cost.
Under this policy, students whose family income is below $100,000 (approximately ₹91 lakh) will not have to pay tuition fees. Those with family incomes below $200,000 (around ₹1.82 crore) will also receive tuition fee waivers. The scheme applies to students enrolling in the Fall 2026 intake.
Benefits for International Students:
The financial aid program is available to all applicants, regardless of nationality. Need-based aid is awarded after evaluating the student’s financial situation, considering both the U.S. economy and the applicant’s home country.
Additional Support:
- Students from low-income families are fully covered for housing, meals, travel allowance, and health insurance.
- Grants are also provided to purchase books and educational resources.
- About 80% of U.S. families can benefit from tuition-free education at Yale, and 50% of students may receive fully funded programs.
This initiative makes Yale University more accessible to deserving students worldwide and ensures that financial constraints do not prevent talented students from pursuing higher education in the U.S.
