Rajasthan Changes Exam Rules for 5th and 8th Grades: The Rajasthan government has made a significant decision regarding school examinations. From now on, students who fail in 5th and 8th grades will not be automatically promoted to the next class. Students who do not meet the minimum passing marks will be required to appear for a retest.
Why the Decision Was Made:
According to the Rajasthan Board (x.com/rajasthanboard), this rule change aims to improve learning outcomes and reduce school dropouts. The automatic promotion system had previously allowed many students to advance without truly understanding the subjects, which caused difficulties in higher grades. By making passing mandatory, the government intends to encourage students to focus on their studies and improve comprehension.
Retests Within 45 Days:
Under the new rules, students who fail the 5th or 8th grade exams will be considered unsuccessful. However, they will get one more chance to pass through a retest, which will be conducted within 45 days. To support these students, schools will provide remedial teaching classes, focusing on weak subjects and ensuring students are better prepared for the retest.
Increased Responsibility for Teachers and Parents:
The reform is designed not only to make students more serious about their studies but also to increase accountability among teachers and parents. Teachers will monitor student progress more closely, while parents are expected to take a more active role in their children’s learning. The overall goal is to raise the academic standard of students in schools across Rajasthan.
