Rajasthan RSSB LDC Recruitment 2026 Sparks Reservation Controversy; Former CM Ashok Gehlot Criticizes Bhajanlal Government

Jaipur: The announcement of over 10,000 vacancies for LDC Grade-II and Junior Assistant posts in Rajasthan has triggered a heated debate over reservation policies. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has raised concerns over the provision of only 15% reservation for the Other Backward Classes (OBC), instead of the 21% entitlement, in the ongoing recruitment process.

Gehlot Raises Alarm on OBC Reservation:
Ashok Gehlot took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) to highlight the issue, stating, “The continuous manipulation of OBC reservation in Rajasthan recruitments is extremely concerning.” He further emphasized that giving only 15% reservation in LDC (Lower Division Clerk/Junior Clerk) recruitment, instead of the constitutionally mandated 21%, amounts to a direct violation of youth rights.

He added, “Similar irregularities have been observed in Class IV, Forest Guard, and Class II recruitments, where reserved category candidates have been systematically disadvantaged.”

Gehlot also urged the current government to act promptly, saying, “The BJP government must stop depriving youth of their rightful quota under the pretext of roster rules. The Chief Minister should intervene immediately to correct these anomalies and ensure justice for all candidates.”

OBC Seats Reduced by Over 400:
In the current RSSB LDC recruitment 2026, a total of 8,827 positions are available in subordinate offices. Under 21% reservation, OBC candidates would have received 1,853 seats. However, the notification provides only 1,378 seats, effectively reducing 475 positions. Similarly, in the Agriculture Marketing Directorate, 108 seats have been reserved for OBCs instead of 123, resulting in a shortfall of 15 positions.

Total Vacancies and Application Process:
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) has released a total of 10,644 vacancies across various departments. Online applications will begin on 15 January 2026 and will remain open until 13 February 2026. Eligible candidates must register via the One-Time Registration (OTR) system on the official RSSB website rssb.rajasthan.gov.in before filling out the online application form.
