Mumbai University: Marksheet and Degree Will Be Withheld If ABC ID Is Not Generated, Colleges Given Deadline

Mumbai University ABC ID Update: Mumbai University has directed all affiliated colleges to generate Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) IDs for every student and link them to the e-Samarth system. Students without an ABC ID will not receive their marksheets or degree certificates.

Deadline and Instructions for Colleges:
Under the National Education Policy 2020, the university has set 15 February 2026 as the deadline for all colleges to complete the ABC ID generation process. Colleges failing to comply by the deadline will face action under the university act.

The administration has instructed colleges to ensure:

  • Every student’s ABC ID is created.
  • Each ABC ID is properly linked with the e-Samarth system.

Consequences of Non-Compliance:
Even though several circulars and college-level camps have been conducted to create ABC IDs, many students in some colleges still do not have them. Mumbai University has now made it clear that students without an ABC ID will not have their academic credits updated, which will directly affect their further education and credit awards.

Without an ABC ID:

  • Academic credits will not be uploaded to the National Academic Depository portal.
  • Students may lose their credit awards.
  • Marksheets and degree certificates will remain withheld until the process is completed.

Strict Action Post-Deadline:
The university has warned that after 15 February 2026, colleges that have not completed the ABC ID process will face action under the university act. Compliance with this directive is mandatory to ensure students receive their academic records without delay.

Why ABC ID Is Important:
The ABC ID ensures that a student’s academic credits are accurately recorded and updated. This digital credit system is crucial for smooth academic progression, credit transfers, and recognition of qualifications at national and international levels.
