Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable feat, twin brothers from Odisha have achieved the same score in JEE Main 2026, a rare occurrence in a national-level examination. Their story highlights dedication, sibling synergy, and years of disciplined preparation.
Twins Achieve Same Score in JEE Main
Mahruf and Masroor Ahmed Khan, residents of Bhubaneswar, stunned their peers and educators by securing identical marks in JEE Main Session 1. While Odia student Bhavesh Patra also scored 100 percentile, the twin brothers drew attention due to the rarity of such an achievement.
“This is not the first time it has happened,” the twins said. “In several previous exams, we have also scored identically. In Class 10, however, Mahruf was slightly behind Masroor, scoring 96% compared to his brother’s 97%.”
Three Years of Rigorous Coaching in Kota
To pursue a career in engineering, both brothers moved to Kota three years ago for intensive coaching. Following a strict study schedule under the guidance of a dedicated teacher, they maintained motivation and focus. Masroor told ANI, “I have been following the coaching material and guidance for the last three years since Class 10. Staying motivated helped me achieve good marks in JEE Main.”
Same Class, Same Study Routine
Mahruf revealed that their study setup was identical. Both studied at the same desk, used the same materials, and attended the same coaching classes. They would solve doubts together and motivate each other whenever results were not satisfactory. “Healthy competition and mutual support helped improve our performance,” Mahruf said.
Future Plans: IIT and IAS Aspirations
Mahruf aims to score well in JEE Advanced and pursue Computer Science at IIT Bombay. He also mentioned, “I am planning to become an IAS officer in the future.”
Family Sacrifices Behind Their Success
Their mother, a gynecologist, quit her job to support her sons during their intensive preparation in Kota. Their father, a physician, heads the medical unit at IIT Bhubaneswar. The parents’ sacrifices and constant support have been instrumental in the twins’ success, creating a joyful atmosphere at home.
