Ireland Offers Free Education to Indian Students with Scholarships Worth Lakhs – Know the Eligibility Before Applying

Indian Students Can Study in Ireland Tuition-Free With Generous StipendsIreland, home to some of the world’s top universities, is inviting Indian students to study in the country under a fully funded scholarship program. The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) not only covers tuition fees but also provides a stipend worth several lakh rupees for living expenses.

The application process for the scholarship opens on 29 January 2026, allowing Indian students to pursue higher education in Ireland without financial stress. The program is funded by the Irish government and partnered with several Irish universities, with administration handled by Ireland’s Higher Education Authority (HEA). Scholarships are available for Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, and PhD programs.

What the Scholarship Offers

Each year, the GOI-IES scholarship is awarded to 60 students, covering one year of study. Recipients receive €10,000 (approximately ₹10.5 lakh) along with full tuition fee waiver at the university. This stipend can be used to cover daily living expenses while studying in Ireland. Applications close on 12 March 2026, and results will be announced in June 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, students must first secure admission to a participating Irish university and obtain an admission offer letter. Only universities included in the GOI-IES program are eligible. Students who have previously received this scholarship cannot reapply.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted online through the GOI-IES portal, with one application per student allowed. Each applicant must upload at least two reference letters along with their admission offer letter. Selection is based on academic performance, communication skills, and extracurricular achievements.
