The India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) recruitment 2026 notification has been officially released today, January 31, 2026. This bumper recruitment is for the posts of Branch Post Master (BPM) and Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM) across the country, with over 20,000 vacancies. Candidates who have passed the 10th standard are eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for GDS 2026
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10th standard from a recognized board. No additional certificates or prior experience are mandatory.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years. Age relaxations for reserved categories are as follows:
- SC/ST: +5 years
- OBC: +3 years
- PWD: +10 years
- PWD + OBC: +13 years
- PWD + SC/ST: +15 years
- Other Requirements: Basic knowledge of computers, ability to ride a bicycle, and sufficient means of livelihood.
Salary Details
- Branch Post Master (BPM): ₹12,000 – ₹29,380 per month (basic pay)
- Assistant Branch Post Master / GDS: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470 per month (basic pay)
- In addition, eligible candidates will receive applicable allowances.
