GDS Recruitment 2026: How Many Marks Are Needed? Check Last Year’s Cut-Offs

The India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) Recruitment 2026 is set to close today, 14 February 2026. Over 28,000 vacancies across various postal circles are being offered, and candidates who haven’t applied yet can submit their forms before midnight. Selection for these posts will be merit-based, with no written exam required, making it essential for applicants to understand previous cut-offs.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on marks obtained in the 10th class. Following this, document verification will be conducted. Applicants must also have:

  • Passed 10th standard from a recognized board, with Mathematics and English as subjects.
  • Knowledge of the local language of the postal circle they are applying to.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to ride a bicycle.
  • Minimum age of 18 years and maximum of 40 years (age relaxation applicable for reserved categories).

Previous Year Cut-Offs (2025)

The GDS merit lists vary by circle, division, post, and category. Last year’s first merit lists provide a benchmark for applicants:

  • Uttar Pradesh: 95% – 100%
  • Bihar: 93.1% – 100%
  • Delhi: 100%
  • Madhya Pradesh: 91.4% – 100%

Most states saw the first merit list close to or at 100%, and multiple merit lists are released, with cut-offs gradually decreasing in subsequent lists. Candidates can check last year’s first merit list PDFs for reference:
