Humble Beginnings and Early Inspiration
Akshita Dhankar hails from Kasani village in Haryana. As a child, she eagerly watched the Republic Day parade each year, inspired especially by her father’s participation in the event. Observing him in uniform fueled her desire to serve the nation, and she nurtured this dream from an early age.
Education and NCC Training
Akshita pursued her higher education at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University. During this period, she also joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC), where she gained invaluable training in discipline, leadership, and military skills, laying a strong foundation for her future in the armed forces.
AFCAT Selection and Commissioning
A few years later, Akshita appeared for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). She successfully cleared the exam and was recommended by the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) in Mysore. In 2023, she was commissioned as a Flying Officer.
Promotion to Flight Lieutenant
Based on her performance and leadership qualities, Akshita earned a merit-based promotion to the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Currently, she serves in the administration branch, handling essential operational responsibilities.
Hoisting the Tricolor on Republic Day
Akshita’s selection to hoist the national flag alongside the President has brought her national attention. On 26 January 2026, she will participate in the 77th Republic Day parade, a proud moment for her and her family.
