DSSSB Exam 2026 Postponed: Delhi Government to Revise Age Limit Rules Before Rescheduling

New Delhi: The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) recruitment exam, originally scheduled for March 2026, has been postponed. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood announced that the exam will be rescheduled only after amendments to the age limit rules are finalized.

Reason for Postponement
The government is considering raising the age limit for candidates. Minister Sood noted that previous recruitment policies prevented many aspiring teachers from appearing for exams on time. By the time some candidates completed their education, they had crossed the prescribed minimum age limit of 30. Additionally, changes in recruitment rules at the national level had already disqualified several candidates from taking the exam.

“The DSSSB notification had announced the March exam, but we have halted it. A new date will be declared once provisions for age relaxation are formalized,” said Minister Sood.

Candidates Welcome the Move
Teacher candidates in Delhi had expressed disappointment over the earlier exam dates. Following meetings with the Education Minister and officials, authorities assured that previous policy lapses would be corrected promptly, ensuring fairness for Delhi residents.

Earlier this year, DSSSB had revised recruitment notifications that had abolished the special 10-year age relaxation for women and adjusted age limits for certain posts, including PGT positions in January 2025. The government is now reviewing the age limit policy again, and no exams will be conducted until the new rules are officially implemented.

Temporary Hold on Old Orders
The Delhi Education Department has temporarily suspended the old age limit orders. The All India Guest Teachers Association welcomed this decision, stating that raising the age limit would provide significant relief to young candidates and guest teachers alike.
