Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas is observed every year to honor the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru. On this day, schools and government offices in several states remain closed. According to reports, all schools, colleges, and academic institutions in Delhi, Noida, and the NCR region will be closed on Tuesday, 25 November 2025. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on 23 November that a public holiday will be observed to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas. All government offices will also remain closed on this day.

States Observing the Holiday on 24 November 2025
In some states, such as Punjab and Haryana, the holiday has been declared on Monday, 24 November 2025. Although there were demands to shift the holiday to 25 November, these states have finalized it for 24 November 2025.

As the holiday may vary by state, students and parents are advised to check official government notifications, the school’s official holiday calendar, or confirm with their school principal to know whether schools will remain closed on the day.

The day commemorates the ultimate sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who is revered as the “Protector of India’s Faith.” He laid down his life to defend the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits and other communities, leaving a lasting legacy of courage and principle.
