The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, is set to release the first selection list for Nursery, KG and Class 1 admissions for the academic session 2026–27 today, January 23. The list will mark the beginning of admissions to 1,756 private unaided schools across the national capital.
According to the schedule already published on the official website edudel.nic.in, the first list will cover 75 per cent of open seats, while the remaining 25 per cent seats will be filled later under the EWS category.
Where and How to Check the List
Parents can check the selection list only on the official websites of the schools where applications were submitted, as each school will publish its own list.
Admission Based on Point System
Admissions for pre-school classes in Delhi are conducted through a 100-point criteria system, with priority given based on:
- Distance between residence and school (up to 8 km): 75 points
- Sibling studying in the same school: 25 points
In some schools, draw of lots was conducted earlier where required, and the results have already been declared.
If Your Child’s Name Is Not in the First List
Schools have advised parents not to panic if their child’s name does not appear in the first list. Many applicants apply to multiple schools and accept admission in only one, creating vacancies for others in the second selection list.
Age Criteria for Class 1
As per the National Education Policy guidelines implemented by the DoE, the age limit for Class 1 admission is 5–6 years, with schools allowed to grant a relaxation of up to one month at the discretion of the head of the institution.
Post-Result Grievance Window
Parents can raise queries related to admission points and eligibility from January 24 to February 3, 2026, by approaching the respective schools.
Documents Required for Admission
Schools have listed the following documents for verification:
- Original birth certificate
- Printed registration form
- Proof of residence
- Aadhaar cards of child and parents
- Sibling or alumni proof (if applicable)
- Vaccination card
- Medical fitness certificate
- Passport-size photographs of child and parents
Admission Process Timeline
The entire nursery admission process for 2026–27 will continue till March 2026, including subsequent lists and completion of documentation.
