CBSE Issues Advisory on Fake “Paper Leak” News During Board Exams

CBSE Board Exam 2026 – Important Notice: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important advisory for students appearing in Class 10 and 12 board exams, warning them against fake “paper leak” news circulating on social media. The board has also outlined steps to follow if such rumors are encountered.

Board Exams Underway

The CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations for 2026 commenced on 17 February 2026. Class 10 exams will continue until 11 March 2026, while Class 12 exams will conclude on 9 April 2026. This year, over 43 lakh students are appearing for the examinations across India and abroad.

How Fake News Spreads

The CBSE advisory highlights that certain anti-social elements exploit platforms like YouTube, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) to spread false information. Old CBSE question papers are often edited or fabricated into fake PDFs, presented as “leaked papers,” creating unnecessary panic, confusion, and stress among students. Such rumors can negatively affect student focus and performance in subsequent exams.

Legal Action Against Rumor Mongers

The board has warned that spreading misinformation or attempting to disrupt the examination process is a criminal offense. Offenders may be booked under the IT Act and other legal provisions, facing heavy fines and imprisonment if found guilty.

Security Measures for CBSE Question Papers

CBSE ensures multi-layered security for all board question papers. From printing to delivery at examination centers, the process is monitored using high-tech security systems and CCTV surveillance to maintain smooth, safe, and fair examinations.

What Students Should Do

If students come across news of a “paper leak”:

  1. Do not panic. Avoid sharing or forwarding such messages without verification.
  2. Verify the information only through the official CBSE website (cbse.gov.in) or other authentic sources.
  3. Ignore fake claims and refrain from spreading rumors.
  4. For further clarification, contact the regional CBSE office or the CBSE headquarters in New Delhi.

CBSE urges students and parents to remain calm and focus on examinations while relying only on official information sources.
