With board exams underway, students preparing for Class 12 Economics can boost their scores by following some smart preparation strategies, says Shweta Jaslok Pandey, Economics teacher at Kamaladevi College.
Maharashtra Board Exams 2026
The Maharashtra State Board HSC exams began on 10 February and will continue until 18 March 2026. Around 15 lakh students are expected to appear for Class 12 exams. Economics will be held on 24 February, and students are being advised on time management, chapter focus, and question-solving strategies.
How to Approach the Paper
The Economics paper is 100 marks, with 80 marks for the board exam and 20 marks for internal assessment. It contains six questions, each requiring a specific approach:
- Start with Questions 1 and 6: Question 1 is easy and scoring (20 marks), while Question 6 is the most time-consuming. Tackling these first ensures ample time for the remaining questions.
- Use Headings and Clear Points: For mid-paper questions (12 marks each), write 7–8 clear points, using headings and subheadings to organize answers.
- Tables, Diagrams, and Passages: Question 5 tests presentation skills. Use tables, figures, diagrams, and passages to gain extra marks.
- The Final Question is Decisive: Question 6 demands the most analytical thinking and time. Students should answer two out of three sub-questions in detail.
Time Management is Key
Completing Question 1 in 20–30 minutes keeps the pace consistent throughout the paper, ensuring that students can attempt all questions effectively.
“Time management is the key to scoring high in Economics. Start strong, stay focused, and maintain a steady pace throughout the paper.”
– Shweta Jaslok Pandey, Economics Teacher, Kamaladevi College
