Bihar Board 12th Exam 2026: Chaos on First Day, Students Denied Entry Over 2-Minute Delay

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) commenced the Class 12 (Intermediate) board exams on 2 February 2026, which will continue until 13 February 2026. On the first day, multiple districts including Patna, Begusarai, and Aurangabad witnessed chaos as students were denied entry for being a few minutes late, leading to protests and, in some cases, police intervention.

Exams Conducted in Two Shifts

The 12th board exams are being conducted in two shifts. On 2 February, the first shift from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM included Biology, Entrepreneurship, Economics, and Music papers. The second shift, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, featured Physics, Philosophy, Business Studies, and Foundation Course papers. Strict monitoring was in place, and students were allowed entry only after thorough security checks, causing long queues outside many exam centers.

2-Minute Delay Costs Students Dearly

In Begusarai, several students who arrived 2 minutes late due to traffic jams were denied entry to the exam hall for the first shift starting at 9:30 AM. Despite repeated requests, students were not allowed inside, leading to protests outside the exam center. Authorities reportedly used police personnel to control the crowd, and a few instances of lathi-charge were reported.

Incorrect Exam Center Details on Admit Cards

In Patna, students and parents protested outside exam centers, alleging that the admit cards listed incorrect exam center addresses. As a result, many students could not reach the correct centers on time and missed their papers.

Emotional Scenes Outside Exam Centers

In Aurangabad as well, students who arrived a few minutes late were denied entry, and some female students were seen crying uncontrollably at the gate. Similar incidents were reported in other districts, reflecting the stress and pressure on students during board exams.

BSEB Guidelines for Students

The Bihar Board had issued a prior advisory stating that entry will be closed 30 minutes after the exam begins. Students were informed that entry gates would open one hour before the exam and main gates would close 30 minutes prior to the start time. Despite the advisory, delays due to traffic and miscommunication caused significant distress for students and parents.

Bihar Board exams are being conducted under strict supervision, and students are advised to reach exam centers well in advance to avoid missing their papers.
