
New Delhi: Aspirants preparing to join the Indian Army have received another update regarding the Agniveer Recruitment 2026. The online application process has been postponed for the second time, leaving candidates waiting for official dates. Earlier, the Join Indian Army official website had mentioned that registration would start on February 3, 2026, for the online common entrance exam for Agniveer and Junior Commissioned Officers/other ranks. However, the latest update has removed the start date, and candidates are now advised to stay updated for the official announcement.
Key Updates on Agniveer Recruitment 2026:
- Eligibility & Posts:
Recruitment will be conducted for multiple posts, including Agniveer General Duty (GD), Technical, Clerk/Storekeeper Technical, Tradesman, Soldier Pharma, Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, and Women Military Police. - Educational Qualifications:
- Agniveer GD: Minimum 10th pass with 45% overall marks and at least 33% in each subject. Candidates with a valid LMV driving license may get preference for driver requirements.
- Agniveer Technical: 12th pass in Science stream with minimum 50% marks overall and at least 40% in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English; OR 10th pass with a 2-year ITI/Polytechnic diploma in the relevant field.
- Agniveer Clerk/Storekeeper Technical: 12th pass with 60% aggregate in Science, Commerce, or Arts streams, with at least 50% in key subjects (English and Maths/Accounts/Bookkeeping).
- Agniveer Tradesman: 10th or 8th pass candidates, with a minimum of 33% in each subject.
- Age Limit: Generally 17.6 to 21 years for most posts.
- Regional Physical Standards: Height, chest (unexpanded), and weight requirements vary across six regions—Western Plains, Eastern Plains, Central, Southern, Western Himalayas, and Eastern Himalayas.
Agnipath Scheme Highlights:
- Four-year tenure in the armed forces.
- Attractive monthly salary and a “Seva Nidhi” package.
- After four years, 25% of Agniveers may be selected for permanent service through a transparent process.
- Access to army hospitals and CSD canteen facilities.
- Medical insurance worth approximately ₹48 lakh for the service period.
- Annual leave of 30 days; sick leave only with doctor’s advice.
Official Update on Application Form:
According to the Join Indian Army website, the application process for Agniveer and JCO/other ranks will commence soon, but no exact date has been announced. This is the second postponement; the form was earlier scheduled to start on February 1, then revised to February 3, and now it has been removed from the portal.
Candidates are advised to regularly check official updates and stay prepared with necessary documents to apply as soon as the application window opens.
