New Delhi, December 26, 2025: A recent study reveals that 70% of employees in India are willing to leave their current jobs within a year to join a new company. Interestingly, this trend is more pronounced among younger employees, with Generation Z outpacing Millennials in job-switching readiness.
Early Job Searches on the Rise
The study, conducted by global consultancy Great Place to Work, analyzed nationwide workforce data. Findings show that 62% of employees are actively looking for new opportunities, and many plan to make the move within a year. Only 26% of employees prefer staying with the same company for over a year, while 4% are undecided.
Sectors with Highest Job Switching
The trend is especially strong in healthcare, biotech, and pharma, where 81% of employees are considering a job change within a year. Among them, 76% are Generation Z, and 68% are Millennials.
More Than Just Salary
The study highlights that salary isn’t the primary driver for most job switches. About 66% of employees cited work culture and flexibility as key reasons for leaving, even if it means accepting a lower pay in the new role.
Both young and senior employees are increasingly prioritizing positive workplace environment, work-life balance, and better communication with management over financial gains. Many employees report dissatisfaction due to worsening work-life balance and a significant communication gap with management.
The report suggests that if the timeframe is extended to two years, the number of employees willing to switch jobs increases even further, signaling a growing trend of workforce mobility across India.
