New Delhi: Higher education in the United States is notoriously expensive. Beyond tuition fees, students must cover accommodation, food, books, travel, and visa costs, which can easily run into several lakh rupees for international students. Moreover, foreign students are not eligible for federal student loans or financial aid from the U.S. government, making studying abroad financially challenging.
To attract international students, many U.S. colleges provide substantial financial aid packages. According to U.S. News, during the 2024–25 academic year, 823 colleges offered international students an average financial aid of $25,000. However, 20 colleges went beyond the average, offering aid packages worth up to $84,000, nearly three times the average.
