New Delhi, Jan 23: Delhi Police have arrested a proclaimed offender accused of arranging forged passports and fake identity documents for members of organised criminal gangs, including jailed gangster Salim Pistol, officials said on Friday.
The accused, Hardesh alias Sonu, was apprehended in Ghaziabad following a sustained search operation. Earlier this month, a court in New Delhi had declared him a proclaimed offender in a case registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
According to officials, Hardesh played a key role in facilitating fake passports and identity papers for several criminal syndicates, notably the Nandu gang and the Salim Pistol gang, enabling gang members to evade law enforcement and travel under false identities.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify his associates and uncover the wider network involved in the racket.
