Government Plans Major Expansion of BSNL 4G to Deliver High-Speed Internet to Villages

New Delhi:The Union government is preparing a major expansion of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) indigenous 4G network to ensure high-speed internet connectivity reaches every village in the country, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said. According to an ET Telecom report, BSNL has already deployed nearly one lakh 4G sites across India, while work is underway to install an additional 22,000 new sites. The government is now considering expanding the network even further by setting up more towers, subject to availability of funds. Speaking on the initiative, Scindia confirmed that he has held discussions with the Finance Minister regarding funding requirements for the expansion. While he refrained from sharing detailed figures, he said substantial progress h...

Google Photos Introduces ‘Me Meme’ Feature, Users Can Create Personalized Memes Using AI

New Delhi, Jan 24:Google Photos has rolled out an exciting new feature called ‘Me Meme’, allowing users to create personalized and humorous memes using their own photos. Powered by generative AI, this feature enables users to place themselves into popular meme templates with just a few taps. According to Google, the ‘Me Meme’ feature uses its Gemini AI technology to automatically blend a user’s photo with a selected meme template and generate a customized meme. The company described the feature as experimental, noting that results may vary and may not always perfectly resemble the original photo in early versions. Currently Available to Limited Users At present, the ‘Me Meme’ feature has been introduced only for select users in the United States. Google Photos users on both Androi...

Delhi Police to Track Criminals with ‘Third Eye’ AI Smart Glasses on Republic Day

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Delhi Police will deploy AI-powered smart glasses to strengthen security during the Republic Day celebrations on 26 January. The new technology will help police officers identify suspects in crowded areas and trigger instant alerts if a person with a criminal record is detected. AI-Enabled Smart Glasses The smart glasses, developed by an Indian technology company, integrate facial recognition software (FRS) and thermal imaging capabilities. They are connected directly to the police database, which contains records of criminals and wanted individuals. This allows officers to verify identities in real-time while patrolling crowded locations. How It Works According to senior police officials, the glasses will be mobile-connected. When an officer ...

Breakthrough Before 6G Launch: American Engineers Develop Wireless Chip 100 Times Faster, Matching Fiber Optic Speeds

American engineers have achieved a major milestone in wireless technology, developing a silicon chip capable of transmitting data at speeds comparable to fiber optic cables. This innovation could be a game-changer for 6G networks and future high-speed communication needs. About the Achievement The breakthrough comes from a team of electrical engineers at UC Irvine, California, led by Professor Pem Hedari. Since 2020, the team has been working on designing a wireless chip that can handle ultra-high-speed data transmission efficiently. Unlike existing wireless chips, which struggle with high-speed data and consume large amounts of energy, this new chip transmits data rapidly and with minimal power consumption, opening doors for advanced transmission protocols in the future. How It W...

Chinese Scientists Create Hair-Thin Fiber Chip That Can Be Washed, Stretched, and Used in Smart Fabrics

Chinese scientists have developed a flexible fiber chip as thin as a human hair. Remarkably, it can be stretched up to 30 inches and still function even after being crushed under a 15-ton truck. Despite its small size, each fiber contains thousands of electronic circuits, opening up possibilities for smart textiles that work like computers or displays, while remaining washable, soft, and stretchable. A Decade of Research According to SCMC reports, the team at Fudan University in Shanghai, led by Peng Huisheng, spent over 10 years developing this technology. Their goal was to move beyond rigid silicon chips and integrate computing systems directly into fibers instead of embedding them in clothes. Powerful Computing in a Tiny Fiber Each fiber chip contains 100,000 transistors per...

Fake Medicine Check: How to Verify Your Medicines in Minutes Using Your Smartphone

Cases of fake and adulterated medicines continue to surface in the Indian market. Consumers often remain unsure whether the medicines they are purchasing are genuine. While visual inspection alone cannot distinguish real from counterfeit drugs, a QR code verification system now makes it easy to check authenticity in minutes using a smartphone. How the QR Code Verification Works The QR code verification system allows customers to instantly verify the authenticity of medicines. Most modern smartphones come with a built-in QR scanner in the camera app. Medicines from the top 300 brands in India now carry a QR code on their packaging. By scanning this code, users can access essential details such as: Batch number Expiry date Manufacturer’s license number Steps to Verify You...

This TV Port Can Transform Your Viewing Experience: Most People Overlook It

Many people spend lakhs on a smart TV, only to be disappointed by picture and sound quality at home. Often, the issue isn’t the TV itself but the underutilization of a critical port: the HDMI port. Most users simply connect a set-top box or TV stick and forget about its full potential. With the right setup, an HDMI port can turn an ordinary TV into a home theater powerhouse. Here are five key HDMI tricks to maximize your TV experience. 1. Control Everything with One Remote If you have a soundbar, set-top box, or streaming stick, using separate remotes for each device is unnecessary. Modern TVs come with HDMI-CEC technology. When enabled, your TV remote becomes a universal remote, automatically powering on connected devices like soundbars or boxes. Volume adjustments and device contro...

What is Taara Lightbridge Internet? Faster and Cheaper than Elon Musk’s Starlink and Jio-Airtel Broadband

The internet world is abuzz with news about Taara, a company that delivers internet using beams of light. Once part of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Taara now operates independently and promises internet that is faster than satellite connections and, in some cases, even cheaper than fiber broadband. Laser-Powered, High-Speed Internet Taara leverages laser technology to provide high-speed, cost-effective internet. The system, called Lightbridge, transmits data through beams of light. According to reports, Lightbridge can deliver data over a range of up to 20 kilometers at speeds of 20 Gbps, offering a promising alternative to traditional broadband and satellite internet services. How the System Works The network uses devices roughly the size of a traffic light, which can be ...

Grok AI Fails to Recognize Virat Kohli’s Childhood Photo: Are We Overestimating Technology?

Elon Musk’s Grok AI has once again proven that artificial intelligence is not infallible. A user recently shared a childhood photo of cricket star Virat Kohli with the AI and asked it to generate an image of how he would look at 37 years old. The result, however, was entirely inaccurate, highlighting the current limitations of AI technology. The user uploaded Virat’s childhood photo to Grok AI without revealing the identity of the child. The AI attempted to create an image of the child as an adult, but the generated photo bore no resemblance to Virat Kohli. Instead, the AI produced an image that looked like an unrelated foreign individual. This incident underscores that AI systems are not yet capable of perfect recognition or transformation. While the technology can produce visually ...
