UP: Over 13,900 Ration Cards Cancelled in Amethi After Verification, Action Continues
Amethi, Uttar Pradesh: In a major move, the Amethi district administration has cancelled 13,928 ration cards belonging to ineligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Scheme (NFSS). The action follows a thorough verification process aimed at ensuring only eligible households receive government-subsidized food grains.
Why the Cards Were CancelledThe cancelled cards belonged to individuals or families whose annual income exceeds ₹3 lakh or who own more than 5 acres of land, making them ineligible for NFSS benefits. Despite this, they were previously receiving free ration under the scheme designed to support economically weaker sections.
