UP Farmers Face Setback in PM-Kisan Payouts; New Aadhaar-Based Name Correction in Khatauni to Fix the Issue

Lucknow: Over one crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh have been deprived of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi installment this month due to discrepancies in their Aadhaar and Khatauni (land record) details. While the state has 2,34,61,696 registered farmers, only 2,15,71,323 received the installment. A staggering 1,89,373 farmers saw their payments withheld. The key reason behind this disruption is the absence of proper e-KYC, which requires the farmer’s name to match exactly in both Aadhaar and Khatauni records. To resolve this long-standing issue, the Revenue Council is now set to introduce a facility allowing farmers to update their Khatauni names as per Aadhaar. This is expected to benefit nearly three crore farmers across the state. Aadhaar–Khatauni Linking Work in Progress The state gove...
