Chandigarh:The Punjab and Haryana High Court strongly criticized the Haryana government for initiating disciplinary action against a doctor who did not stand up to greet an MLA during COVID emergency duty. The court termed the action “disturbing” and imposed a ₹50,000 fine on the state government.

The case pertains to Dr. Manoj, a Casualty Medical Officer posted in a government hospital under the Haryana Health Department. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, while he was attending to patients in the emergency ward, an MLA visited the hospital.
