Punjab Bans Meat, Liquor and Intoxicants in Three Cities on Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th Martyrdom Day
Chandigarh: Marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a major decision to prohibit the sale of meat, liquor, and all intoxicants in three prominent cities of the state. The government has officially declared Sri Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and the old walled city of Amritsar as ‘Holy Cities’, giving them special religious status.
Complete Ban on Meat, Liquor and Tobacco
According to the notification issued on Tuesday, the sale of alcohol, meat, tobacco, and all narcotic substances will be completely banned within these designated holy areas. Violation of the order will be treated as an offense, and strict legal action will be taken by the police.
