Haryana: High Court Rejects CBI Probe in IPS Y. Puran Kumar Suicide Case, Accepts SIT Status Report
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a petition seeking a CBI investigation into the suicide of former IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar. The court expressed satisfaction with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe conducted by Chandigarh Police, stating that the investigation had been carried out diligently, with no delay or negligence, and therefore, there was no justification to hand over the case to an independent agency.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjeev Berry, emphasized that the SIT’s investigation had been thorough and satisfactory. The court’s ruling puts an end to speculation over a CBI probe into the former officer’s death.
