Over 5.8 Million Names Dropped from West Bengal Voter List Ahead of Assembly Elections; EC Releases SIR Draft List
Kolkata: Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled early next year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the list of voters removed under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The announcement comes just hours before the publication of the 2026 draft electoral rolls.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, 5,820,898 names have been deleted from the draft list due to reasons including death, relocation, missing records, duplication, and other causes.
