New Delhi: In a shocking violation of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, a woman from Sundar Nagari, North-East Delhi, was allegedly divorced by her husband over a WhatsApp call and immediately blocked, reigniting concerns about the misuse of triple talaq despite stringent legal provisions.
Incident Details
The 27-year-old woman tied the knot with Asif Ali from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh on 22 April 2025, following Muslim marriage customs. However, soon after their marriage, domestic disputes began to escalate. According to the victim, roughly a year ago, Asif left her at her parental home and never returned.
