Bihar: Employee Caught Taking ₹4,500 Bribe in Nalanda; Farmer Harassed Over Land Mutation
In a swift anti-corruption action in Bihar’s Nalanda district, a local government employee was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹4,500 while allegedly harassing a farmer over land mutation procedures.
Employee Arrested by Vigilance Team
The vigilance department arrested Sanjay Kumar, a Halka employee posted at the Karaiparsurai Sub-Division Office, on Thursday. Sanjay Kumar had demanded a total bribe of ₹5,000 from complainant Ramesh Kumar of Salem Pur village to process the mutation (land transfer) for 1.5 kathas of his land. The first installment of ₹500 had already been paid on Wednesday.
Following this, Ramesh Kumar lodged a written complaint at the Patna Vigilance Office, prompting a planned sting operation.
