Bihar Police Abolishes Caste-Based Mess; 4,000 Officers to Dine Together in New Centralized Kitchen
Patna, December 12, 2025: The Bihar Police has ended its long-standing caste-based mess system. A state-of-the-art centralized kitchen and dining facility has been constructed at the Patna Police Lines, capable of serving 4,000 police personnel at once. Built at a cost of ₹18 crore, the facility marks a significant step towards promoting social equality within the police force.
Pilot Project to Begin in PatnaThe new centralized kitchen, part of a pilot project, will be inaugurated soon by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Spread over 75,000 square feet, the G-4 building can accommodate 1,225 officers simultaneously: 175 on the ground floor and 375 on each of the three upper floors.
