UP Panchayat Elections Likely to Be Deferred, Polls May Be Held After 2027 Assembly Elections
Lucknow:The three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for April–May 2026, are likely to be deferred due to multiple administrative and technical constraints. If the delay materialises, the rural body elections may now be conducted after the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, sources indicated.
Though no official announcement has been made so far, the slow pace of preparations by the government and political parties has strengthened speculation regarding the postponement. Officials, however, have remained cautious and refrained from making formal statements.
