Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, whose last rites were held in Baramati on 29 January 2026, had a deep and enduring connection with the world of cinema—one that remained even during his long political career. Born on 22 July 1959 in Deolali Pravara, Maharashtra, to Anantrao and Ashatai Pawar, Ajit lost his father at the age of 18. His father, Anantrao Pawar, elder brother of NCP leader Sharad Pawar, had been associated with the iconic filmmaker V. Shantaram at Rajkamal Studios in Mumbai.
