Dr. Ayushi Jain Gupta founded NORA in 2022, a company specializing in eco-friendly outdoor furniture and planter pots. The brand aims to provide sustainable, stylish, and affordable products. Today, NORA generates an annual revenue of ₹1.2 crore.
From Medicine to Business
Dr. Ayushi Jain Gupta, based in Gurugram, pursued an MBBS from Shenyang Medical College, China, followed by an MBA from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM). Instead of continuing a traditional medical career, she chose the challenging path of entrepreneurship. Driven by her love for nature and the desire to solve everyday problems, she co-founded the Gurugram-based startup NORA in 2022.
NORA is not just a brand; it bridges modern lifestyle and environmental sustainability. The startup specializes in creating lightweight, durable, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor furniture and planter pots. Leveraging her expertise, Dr. Ayushi has designed products that are recyclable, UV-resistant, and weatherproof, making them ideal for long-term use. Today, NORA stands out as a successful business model with an annual revenue of ₹1.2 crore.
The Idea Behind NORA
Dr. Ayushi noticed that most planters available in the market were either too heavy or prone to cracking under sunlight. She saw this problem as an opportunity and decided to offer a better solution. Together with her husband, Anurag Gupta, who has experience running RFM Automotives, she launched NORA in 2022. Their goal was to create planters and furniture that enhance modern homes while remaining durable and sustainable.
Breaking the Myth
The standout feature of Dr. Ayushi’s products is their sustainability and strength. She has dispelled the common myth that eco-friendly products cannot be durable. NORA’s planter pots are made from high-grade polymers that are recyclable, UV-resistant, and weatherproof. The outdoor furniture also features innovative elements such as built-in LED lighting, giving gardens a premium and modern look. Dr. Ayushi ensures that none of NORA’s products ever end up in landfills, as they are entirely recyclable.
Rapid Revenue Growth
When NORA started, the monthly revenue was around ₹3 lakh. By FY 2024-25, it had grown to ₹10 lakh per month, totaling ₹1.2 crore annually. Dr. Ayushi has successfully tapped both B2B (wholesalers) and D2C (direct-to-consumer) channels. NORA products are now available on major platforms such as Amazon and Paperfry. Their attractive designs have become especially popular among Gen Z customers. The company aims to achieve a monthly revenue of ₹25 lakh by 2026.
Future Plans
Dr. Ayushi envisions NORA not just as a business but as a lifestyle brand. To strengthen her entrepreneurial journey, she has participated in programs like Goldman Sachs’ “10,000 Women” and ISB’s growth programs. She firmly believes that environmental responsibility and business success can go hand in hand. Looking ahead, NORA plans to expand into children’s furniture and educational toys, focusing on functionality, design, and eco-friendliness.
