Success Story: Dropped CA Studies, Started With Just ₹25,000 – Now Earning ₹1.5 Lakh Per Month

Vritika Agarwal, a 26-year-old from Agra, turned her creative passion into a thriving business. Leaving behind her Chartered Accountancy (CA) aspirations, she learned the art of making custom-made candles and launched her brand “House of Aura” with an initial investment of just ₹25,000. Today, her startup earns up to ₹1.5 lakh per month, leaving many inspired by her journey.

Choosing Passion Over Profession
After completing her B.Com, Vritika aimed to become a CA. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she realized her true inclination lay in creativity. Despite her parents’ initial skepticism, she left CA studies and started freelancing on social media. For three years, she helped various brands build a digital presence before deciding to start her own venture – House of Aura.

Starting Small With ₹25,000
Vritika wisely allocated her savings: ₹12,000 for raw materials (soy wax, molds, etc.), ₹6,000 for packaging, and ₹4,000 for essential tools such as a digital scale and thermometer. Early challenges included rising raw material costs and limited brand reach. However, she reinvested every profit back into the business, steadily building momentum.

A Unique Business Model
To stand out in a competitive market, Vritika focused on personalization. Her signature concept, “Story-to-Candle,” transforms customers’ memories and emotions into custom-scented candles. Fragrances inspired by tea, mango, or personal memories struck a chord with clients. Today, she works with her sister to ensure complete control over quality, producing each candle in-house.

Rising Earnings and Expanding Reach
Social media proved to be a game-changer for Vritika. By sharing behind-the-scenes videos on Instagram and YouTube, she built a community of over 100,000 followers. Currently, her startup generates an average monthly revenue of ₹1.5 lakh, which can surge to ₹7 lakh during wedding seasons. Having served over 10,000 clients, Vritika now also coaches emerging entrepreneurs on candle-making and social media marketing.

Vritika Agarwal’s journey is a testament to following one’s passion, strategic investment, and creative innovation – proving that success can bloom from even the smallest beginnings.
