
New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in India today for a two-day visit and will be staying at the iconic ITC Maurya Hotel in Delhi. Known as a preferred choice for global leaders visiting India, the hotel has hosted several US presidents, including Joe Biden, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump.
The Chankya Suite – A Landmark of Luxury
President Putin will reside in the hotel’s Grand Presidential Suite, the Chankya Suite, located on the 14th floor. This 4,600 sq. ft. suite opened in 2007 and has been the choice of many world leaders and dignitaries over the years, including the Dalai Lama, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and the King of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah.
The suite features:
- A master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and private steam room
- Guest room and living room
- Study and private dining area for 12
- Mini spa and gym
- Gold and silver decorative accents and rare artworks by renowned artists like Aziz and Tayyab Mehta
- Linen with 600-thread count and silver rose sprinklers
- Special themed décor reflecting Indian traditions and history
A dedicated lift provides direct access to the 14th floor, and guests can order custom dishes prepared on demand. The suite’s entryway gives the impression of a royal corridor, culminating in a grand statue of Chankya.
Room Rate and Availability
The nightly rate for the Chankya Suite is reported to be between ₹8–10 lakh. For the dates of 4th and 5th December, all rooms are reserved for President Putin and his delegation. Regular rooms at ITC Maurya are priced according to demand, ranging from ₹19,440 on 6th December to approximately ₹26,000 on 9th December.
