From Corporate Jobs to Selling Golgappas in London: IIT Couple Turns Passion Into Profitable Supper Club

New Delhi — Who says water-based street snacks can’t become a lucrative business? Ankita Khante and her husband Aman Krishna, both IIT graduates, have turned their love for Indian cuisine into a thriving venture in London, charging nearly ₹6,000 per person for a unique dining experience.

Leaving high-paying corporate careers

Like many IIT alumni, Ankita initially followed the conventional path, working as a product designer at Samsung in Bengaluru. Aman, originally from Obra, Uttar Pradesh, pursued computer science and studied at IIT Dhanbad and IIIT Hyderabad. After their marriage in 2024, the couple moved to the United Kingdom, where they made a bold decision: leave their well-paying corporate jobs to start a home-based supper club.

Ankita, an IIT Guwahati alumna, and Aman had no formal experience in hospitality, but they wanted to create something special using authentic Indian flavors and personal storytelling.

Birth of ‘The Bouzi Club’

Their home-grown venture, The Bouzi Club, is a monthly, ticketed supper club hosted in their London home. Each session invites 10–12 guests for a seven-course Indian-inspired menu that reimagines regional dishes with a contemporary twist. The experience, priced at £50 (around ₹6,000) per person, emphasizes both food and conversation, fostering a sense of community among guests who may otherwise have limited social circles in London.

Signature dishes and crowd favorites

Two dishes have become instant hits: Dholi Kadhi and Nagpur-style Sambar Vadi, regional specialties rarely found on restaurant menus in London. Guests appreciate the combination of comfort, novelty, and a connection to Indian roots.

Golgappas steal the show

Although initial sessions received a lukewarm response, everything changed when Ankita introduced golgappas (pani puri). Guests shared stories of street corners, school days, late-night cravings, and family outings, sparking lively conversations and creating a sense of camaraderie. According to Ankita, golgappas have a universal appeal across India, and sharing memories associated with them became the key to building connections in her supper club.

Turning passion into profit

Today, the Bouzi Club has earned a reputation for both its food and the unique community experience it offers. What began as a home kitchen experiment has now become a profitable venture, demonstrating that innovation, authenticity, and cultural nostalgia can create extraordinary opportunities—even in a foreign city.
