New Delhi: The fifth season of Shark Tank India premiered today, January 5, introducing 15 judges, including six new sharks. Among the newcomers is Kanika Tekriwal, founder of the private aviation company JetSetGo, and one of India’s most successful self-made women entrepreneurs.
Kanika Tekriwal’s net worth today exceeds ₹420 crore, making her one of the youngest women to feature on the Hurun Rich List. She founded JetSetGo, which operates nine private jets and two helicopters for charter, having served over 1,00,000 passengers and operated more than 6,000 flights to date.
A Startup at 21:
Kanika began her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 21 with a simple yet revolutionary idea: to create an “Uber-like” model for private aviation in India. Her plan was to purchase jets and lease them out, making private air travel more accessible, organized, and transparent.
In interviews, she has spoken candidly about the challenges she faced in the early days. “When I started my business, nobody understood the idea. I was a 21-year-old woman entering an industry dominated by men, and that combination seemed risky to everyone,” she said.
Funding Struggles:
Kanika struggled to raise funds initially. Investors frequently turned her away, questioning the market size and viability. She recalls, “Almost everyone closed the door on me, except one person who believed in my vision.”
Remarkably, Kanika began with just ₹5,600 in personal investment. Today, that modest amount has grown into a disciplined and determined ₹420 crore aviation empire.
About JetSetGo:
JetSetGo has grown far beyond charter flights. The company manages aircraft operations, provides ownership consulting, offers exclusive memberships, and is working on future aviation technologies, including electric and vertical take-off aircraft.
With her proven track record, Kanika Tekriwal now brings her entrepreneurial expertise to the judging panel of Shark Tank India 5, inspiring a new generation of founders.
