Yamaha Launches Its First Electric Scooter EC-06 in India with 169 km Range and Stylish Features

New Delhi: Yamaha India has officially entered the electric scooter segment with the launch of its first electric scooter, the EC-06, priced at ₹1.67 lakh (ex-showroom). Combining a premium, stylish design with advanced features, the EC-06 aims to compete with popular electric scooters like TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Simple One, Ather Apex, and Hero Vida V2.

Design and Availability

The Yamaha EC-06 comes in a Blueish White color option and will be available in select cities through Blue Square showrooms. With a modern, sporty look, the scooter is designed for young, tech-savvy riders who seek both style and sustainability.

Performance and Battery

The EC-06 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a 4 kWh fixed battery. The scooter generates 9 PS of power and 26 Nm of peak torque, achieving a top speed of 79 km/h. Both the motor and battery are IP67 certified, while other electronics are IP65 certified, ensuring durability.

Charging can be done at home, taking approximately 8 hours for a full charge. Yamaha provides a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery.

Features and Riding Modes

The EC-06 comes with three riding modes – Eco, Standard, and Power – allowing riders to optimize performance and efficiency. A Reverse mode makes maneuvering in tight spaces easier. The scooter is equipped with:

  • Telescopic front suspension and rear coil spring suspension
  • 200 mm front and rear disc brakes with combi-brake system
  • LED headlights and tail lights for enhanced visibility
  • Color LCD display showing speed, battery status, riding mode, and connectivity information in real time

Smart App and Storage

Yamaha has integrated the Motor Connect R app, providing real-time data access and smart features. The scooter also offers 24.5 liters of under-seat storage, enough for a helmet or small bag.

Outlook

With the EC-06, Yamaha emphasizes innovation, style, and sustainability, targeting urban youth and trendsetters. The company is also planning initiatives like Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and expansion of charging infrastructure. An electric version of the Aerox maxi-scooter is expected to be launched soon, further strengthening Yamaha’s presence in the Indian electric mobility market.
