Tata’s New Punch Impresses with Extreme Off-Road Feats

New Delhi: Though the new Tata Punch is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) SUV, its design and advanced features give it off-road capabilities that surpass many rivals in its segment. Tata Motors recently showcased the Punch enduring extreme tests—it was driven through deep water, launched into the air, and descended from a 90-degree drop—demonstrating its robustness and engineering excellence.

Compact Yet Tough:
As the popular saying goes, “Looks can be deceiving”, and it perfectly applies to the Tata Punch facelift. Despite its compact size, the SUV is capable of handling challenging terrains that would surprise many drivers.

Key Off-Road Features:

  • Impressive Ground Clearance:
The Punch offers a ground clearance of 193mm, the best in its segment. This allows it to easily cross large rocks, potholes, and uneven surfaces without scraping the underbody. Its sturdy chassis adds to its durability on rough terrain.
  • Water Wading Capability:
The SUV can traverse moderately deep water, making it ideal for monsoon conditions or flooded roads, further proving its off-road readiness.
  • Powerful Turbo Engine and Refined Suspension:
Under the hood, the new Tata Punch features a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. The updated suspension absorbs bumps effectively, reducing noise and jolts inside the cabin, while keeping body roll under control on sharp turns.

With these upgrades, the Tata Punch proves that a small SUV can offer remarkable off-road performance, making it a strong contender for customers seeking both style and capability in the subcompact SUV segment.
