Tata Motors Launches XPRES Sedan in Petrol and CNG; Set to Challenge Dzire Tour in Fleet Segment

New Delhi: Tata Motors has expanded its footprint in the fleet and commercial passenger vehicle segment with the launch of the Tata XPRES sedan in Petrol and CNG variants, aimed specifically at taxi and cab operators. With aggressive pricing, low maintenance costs, and enhanced warranty coverage, the new XPRES is expected to pose a strong challenge to rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour and Hyundai Aura.

The XPRES Petrol variant has been launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹5.59 lakh, while the XPRES CNG starts at ₹6.59 lakh. The model complements Tata Motors’ existing XPRES EV, further strengthening the company’s presence in the fleet market.

Engine, Technology and Mileage Focus

The Tata XPRES is powered by the company’s trusted 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. The CNG version features Tata’s advanced twin-cylinder CNG technology, offering improved fuel efficiency without compromising boot space—an important requirement for fleet operators.

Notably, the XPRES CNG comes with a segment-leading 70-litre twin-cylinder CNG tank, enabling longer driving ranges and reducing frequent refuelling needs. Despite the large CNG capacity, the boot space remains unaffected, addressing a key concern in CNG-powered taxis. The petrol variant offers a best-in-class 419-litre boot space.

Pricing, Warranty and Fleet Benefits

Positioned as the most affordable sedan in the fleet segment, the Tata XPRES also boasts low maintenance costs, estimated at just ₹0.47 per kilometre. To further enhance peace of mind for buyers, Tata Motors is offering an extended warranty of up to 5 years or 1,80,000 kilometres.

The company has also introduced exclusive fleet-focused dealerships in select cities, equipped with trained staff and specialized service infrastructure tailored to the needs of commercial vehicle operators.

Official Statement

Commenting on the launch, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, said that the XPRES was designed to address real-world operational challenges faced by fleet owners. He highlighted the introduction of the 70-litre twin-cylinder CNG system, large boot space, minimal maintenance costs, and attractive financing solutions, calling the XPRES “the most compelling purchase in the fleet sedan category.”

Market Impact

With competitive pricing, strong after-sales support, and features focused on profitability, the Tata XPRES Petrol and CNG variants are expected to significantly disrupt the fleet market and intensify competition for established players like the Dzire Tour.
