SUV Craze in India: Record 1.57 Lakh Units Sold in January 2026 – Here’s the Top 10

New Delhi: The Indian SUV market is showing no signs of slowing down, with a record 1,57,416 SUVs sold in January 2026, marking a 28% increase compared to January 2025, when 1,22,513 units were sold. SUVs continue to attract buyers across age groups, offering road presence, premium features, and versatility.

Here’s a look at the top 10 best-selling SUVs in India in January 2026:

1. Tata Nexon – 23,365 Units

The Tata Nexon led the sales chart with 23,365 units, reflecting a 51% growth from 15,397 units in January 2025. Its market share stood at 14%, making it the most popular SUV last month.

2. Tata Punch – 19,257 Units

Second on the list, the Tata Punch saw 19,257 units sold, growing 18% year-on-year. It held a 12% market share, maintaining its strong presence in the compact SUV segment.

3. Hyundai Creta – 17,921 Units

The Hyundai Creta secured the third spot with 17,921 units, although its sales dipped 3% compared to last year. It commanded an 11% market share.

4. Maruti Suzuki Brezza – 17,486 Units

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza closely followed with 17,486 units sold, registering an 18% increase from last year and holding an 11% share of the SUV market.

5. Mahindra Scorpio – 15,542 Units

The iconic Mahindra Scorpio remained a favorite in the segment, selling 15,542 units in January 2026, with a slight 0.65% growth from last year. Its market share was 9%.

6. Maruti Suzuki Victoris – 15,240 Units

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris sold 15,240 units, also capturing 9% of the market.

7. Maruti Suzuki Fronx – 13,353 Units

The Fronx recorded 13,353 sales, showing a 12% decline compared to last year, and holding an 8% market share.

8. Hyundai Venue – 12,413 Units

The Hyundai Venue saw 12,413 units sold, with an 11% growth year-on-year. It accounted for 7% of total SUV sales.

9. Mahindra Bolero – 11,841 Units

The rugged Mahindra Bolero recorded 11,841 units sold, a 36% increase from January 2025, with a 7% market share.

10. Kia Sonet – 10,998 Units

The Kia Sonet closed the top 10 list, selling 10,998 units, marking a 52% surge from last year and holding 6% of the market.
