From BPSC to UPSC: Tanoo Singh Becomes IPS, Inspires Aspiring Officers

Tanoo Singh’s journey is a shining example of perseverance and dedication. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, she first cleared the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam and later cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination to become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Her story serves as an inspiration for countless aspiring candidates across the country.

Early Life and Education
Tanoo Singh was born in Gauribazar village, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Ranjit Singh, served as a Naik in the Indian Army, while her mother, Seema Singh, is a homemaker. Tanoo completed her schooling from Army Public School and graduated in Science from Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Journey Through BPSC and UPSC
After graduation, Tanoo moved to Patna to begin her civil services preparation. Her hard work paid off when she successfully cleared the BPSC exam, earning the position of Block Panchayati Raj Officer. However, she continued to pursue her ultimate goal—UPSC Civil Services.

Tanoo faced failures in her first three attempts at UPSC, balancing preparation with job responsibilities. Undeterred, she focused on revision and self-motivation for her fourth attempt. Her determination bore fruit when she secured 540th rank in the UPSC CSE 2022, earning her place as an IPS officer.

Role Model and Inspiration
Tanoo credits her father as her guiding light, appreciating the trust and support he provided throughout her journey. Her story exemplifies that consistent effort, self-belief, and resilience can turn challenges into success. Today, she motivates young aspirants to stay focused and pursue their dreams despite obstacles.
