Gurugram: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh conducted a surprise inspection of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gurugram and lauded the station’s efficiency and professionalism. Arriving in his personal vehicle, Singh was not immediately recognized by the staff, but the personnel handled the situation with courtesy and diligence.
DGP Singh recounted that upon his arrival, a constable politely asked him, “What have you come here for?” Singh revealed that he had come to file a digital arrest case. Following this, he was given the opportunity to review the station’s entire functioning. He praised the staff for being professional, cooperative, and well-organized, highlighting the exemplary operational standards of the station.
Key Observations and Initiatives:
- DGP Singh emphasized that if a bank fails to perform due diligence, the financial loss from cybercrime cases should be borne by the bank.
- In cases involving small frozen amounts, without an FIR, the Investigating Officer will help the complainant recover funds through Lok Adalat.
- A new network, assisted by HeadBoys & Girls and Spycamake, will engage Gen Alpha children through events to raise awareness about cybercrime and drug-related issues.
Feedback and Recommendations:
Singh noted feedback that records of Lok Adalat challans often take months to reach the authorities. He directed the Gurugram CP to address this issue promptly. Additionally, he instructed the IG of Cyber Crime to ensure that at least one cyber station visit is conducted each week to identify and resolve three major issues faced by victims of cybercrime.
DGP Singh also urged citizens to immediately call 1930 in case of cyber fraud to ensure timely assistance and intervention.
