Balrampur, Tuesday: A tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday morning at the Phulwaria Bypass in the Kotwali Dehat area of Balrampur. A private bus traveling from Sonauli to Delhi collided head-on with a goods-laden truck. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire immediately.
Three passengers were killed on the spot, while around 25 others sustained injuries, many with severe burns. Local police, traffic authorities, and the fire department launched an urgent rescue operation to evacuate passengers and control the fire.
District Magistrate Vipin Kumar Jain and Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar arrived at the scene after receiving reports. They inspected the site and instructed officials to accelerate relief efforts. The officers later visited the hospital to check on the injured and directed medical teams to provide the best possible care.
According to initial reports, the private bus was heading towards Delhi via the city after coming from Sonauli. At the Phulwaria crossing, a truck coming from the direction of the Phulwaria overbridge collided directly with the bus. The bus then hit a roadside transformer, and live electrical wires sparked a fire that engulfed both the bus and the truck. Several passengers suffered burn injuries before being rescued.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
