Bengal Babri Masjid Row: “Not a Single Brick Will Be Allowed in Babur’s Name,” Says Keshav Prasad Maurya as Political Tensions Rise

Lucknow: Political temperatures have soared after TMC MLA Humayun Kabir announced that the foundation stone of a mosque named Babri Masjid would be laid on December 6 in Murshidabad, West Bengal — the date which marks the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri structure in Ayodhya.

Responding sharply, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya warned that “not a single brick in the name of a foreign invader will be allowed on Indian soil,” signalling a strong BJP stance against the move.

Foundation Stone Announcement Sparks Controversy
TMC MLA Humayun Kabir declared that the mosque’s foundation stone would be laid in Beldanga, Murshidabad, with construction expected to take three years. He claimed that nearly two lakh people would attend the ceremony, with around 400 notable personalities on the stage.

The announcement immediately triggered a political firestorm, with BJP leaders questioning the intent and timing of such a move.

Maurya attacked TMC, Congress, SP and RJD, calling them “so‑called anti-Hindu and anti-Ram parties.”

“Babur Was a Foreign Invader; No Brick Will Be Laid in His Name”
Keshav Prasad Maurya reiterated the BJP’s stance on historical grievances, stating:

“Babur was a foreign invader who demolished the Ram Temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram. Devout Ram bhakts brought down the illegal structure on 6 December 1992. Now, no brick bearing Babur’s name will be allowed on India’s soil.”

He also termed those supporting the mosque plan as “protectors of infiltrators,” adding that a nationwide campaign is underway to identify and expel illegal immigrants.

“No infiltrator will be allowed to stay in India. They will be tracked and removed one by one,” he asserted.

“TMC Will Be Uprooted by the People in 2026”
Taking aim at the ruling Trinamool Congress, Maurya predicted a sweeping change in Bengal politics in the next state election.

“West Bengal’s people will uproot TMC in 2026. The jungle‑raj will end, and voters will choose the BJP, which stands for good governance, welfare and women’s safety,” he said.

Maurya added that like Haryana, Bihar, Delhi and Maharashtra, the BJP intends to form the government in West Bengal as well.

“Don’t Turn Mosques Into Political Platforms”
Reacting to Kabir’s statement, Congress MP Imran Masood criticised both sides for using religious sentiments for political gains.

Masood said,
“Communal rhetoric — whether from one side or the other — only leads to harm. If you want to build a mosque, build it. A mosque is a place of worship, not a political platform. Stop turning religious spaces into bases for political battles.”
