Speeding Dumper Crushes Bike Rider in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, Driver Flees; Victim Dies

New Delhi: In yet another tragic road accident in the national capital, a speeding dumper mixer crushed a bike rider in the Vasant Kunj area on Monday morning, killing him on the spot. After the incident, the driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled, triggering panic and outrage among locals.

The deceased has been identified as Rajeev (27), a resident of Mehrauli, police officials confirmed.

Incident Reported Near Church Road

According to the police, the incident took place near Church Road, in front of Bandar Farm, under the jurisdiction of Vasant Kunj South Police Station. The police received information through a PCR call at around 11:44 AM, stating that a bike rider had been hit by a heavy vehicle.

When police personnel reached the spot, they found the motorcycle lying in a damaged condition and the rider severely injured nearby.

Declared Dead at Hospital

The injured man was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Initial investigation revealed that Rajeev worked as a bike rider for Rapido, a bike taxi service, and was reportedly on duty at the time of the accident.

Case Registered, Hunt On for Absconding Driver

Police have registered a case under relevant sections and launched a search operation to trace the absconding dumper driver. Officials said the vehicle involved in the accident has been seized.

Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the driver and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Rising Concern Over Fatal Road Accidents

The incident once again highlights the growing danger posed by speeding heavy vehicles on Delhi roads. Similar fatal accidents have been reported in recent days, including one in the Bhalswa Dairy area, where two youths riding a motorcycle lost their lives after being hit by a truck near Gurjar Chowk.

Authorities have urged strict enforcement of traffic rules and increased monitoring of heavy vehicles to prevent further tragedies.
