Taking a tough stand in the ₹64 lakh robbery case involving a Rajasthan-based trader, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) has suspended three police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Pilkhuwa police station, for alleged negligence and failure to control crime. The accused, however, remain absconding.
The incident occurred in the Pilkhuwa police station area of Hapur district, where armed criminals looted ₹64 lakh from a rice trader from Rajasthan. Despite examining footage from nearly 200 CCTV cameras, the police have so far failed to trace the suspects.
Incident on NH-9
The victim, Rakesh Rajput, a resident of Sikar district in Rajasthan, had come to Hapur to meet his business partner Vaibhav Shukla. After withdrawing ₹64 lakh in cash from a bank on Railway Road, both were heading towards Delhi on a motorcycle when they were intercepted on National Highway-9.
According to police, three criminals riding a scooter stopped them and carried out the robbery at gunpoint before fleeing with the cash.
Senior Officers Rush to Spot
Following the incident, ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, DIG Kalanidhi Naitthani, and other senior police officials reached the spot along with multiple police teams to assess the situation and direct the investigation.
DIG Takes Strict Disciplinary Action
DIG Kalanidhi Naitthani, citing failure to exercise effective crime control, lack of proper supervision, and negligence in patrolling, ordered the immediate suspension of:
- Inspector Shyopal Singh, SHO, Pilkhuwa police station
- Mahant Raj Yadav, In-charge, Chhijarsi police outpost
- Jitendra Kumar, In-charge, SPDA police outpost
Probe Handed Over to Additional SP
The DIG has directed that the investigation and disciplinary proceedings related to the robbery be conducted by the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Hapur.
Additionally, orders have been issued to examine the alleged lax supervision by the Circle Officer (CO), Pilkhuwa, in connection with the case.
Search for Accused Continues
Police teams remain engaged in raids at multiple locations, but no breakthrough has been achieved so far. Authorities have assured that efforts to trace and arrest the culprits are ongoing.
