Study at 7 Ivy League Universities in the US for Free in 2026: Tuition Waivers Available with Conditions

Study in the Ivy League: The Ivy League is a group of eight top private universities in the United States, renowned globally for their academic excellence. However, being private institutions, tuition fees at these universities are typically very high.

For thousands of Indian students aspiring to study in the US in 2026, Ivy League universities remain a popular choice. While earning a degree from these institutions usually requires paying substantial fees, seven Ivy League universities now offer tuition-free education under specific financial aid programs. In some cases, these universities also cover accommodation and meal expenses.

Here’s a look at these seven Ivy League universities and their financial aid policies:

1. Princeton University
Princeton offers one of the best financial aid programs in the US. Students from families with an annual income of $150,000 (approx. ₹1.37 crore) or less pay no tuition or room and board. Families earning up to $250,000 (approx. ₹2.29 crore) are exempted from tuition fees but may have to cover living expenses themselves.

2. Harvard University
Harvard’s financial aid program allows students from families earning $100,000 (approx. ₹92 lakh) or less per year to study completely free, including tuition, room, and board. Families with incomes up to $200,000 (approx. ₹1.83 crore) are exempt from tuition fees but must cover living expenses.

3. Yale University
Yale recently announced that students from families with annual incomes of $100,000 or less can study tuition-free, with room and board also covered. Students from families earning up to $200,000 per year are exempted from tuition fees.

4. University of Pennsylvania
Students from families with annual incomes of $75,000 (approx. ₹69 lakh) or less can study completely free, including tuition, room, and board. Those with family incomes up to $200,000 (approx. ₹1.83 crore) are exempt from tuition fees.

5. Dartmouth College
Dartmouth follows a “Universal Need-Blind” admissions policy, which also applies to international students. Students from families with annual incomes of $125,000 (approx. ₹1.14 crore) or less pay no tuition fees. Additional scholarships and financial aid programs are also available to make education affordable.

6. Columbia University
Columbia University in New York offers extensive financial aid. Students from families earning $150,000 (approx. ₹1.37 crore) or less pay no tuition fees. Families earning $66,000 (approx. ₹60 lakh) or less can have all expenses covered. Columbia awards approximately $255 million in scholarships annually.

7. Brown University
Brown University offers financial aid to cover tuition for students from families earning $125,000 (approx. ₹1.14 crore) or less. Students from families earning $60,000 (approx. ₹55 lakh) or less can study completely free, including room and board.

These programs make Ivy League education more accessible to students from economically weaker backgrounds, both in the US and internationally, opening doors to world-class learning without the heavy financial burden.
