UP Weather Today: Rain and Hail Lash Several Districts; Cold Intensifies

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh:
A western disturbance has caused significant weather changes across Uttar Pradesh, leading to rain, hail, and a sharp dip in temperatures in many districts. Cities including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Barabanki, and Ayodhya witnessed intermittent showers this morning, with early-day drizzle recorded in Lucknow and Barabanki.

Live Updates from Key Cities:

  • Lucknow: Light showers began early Wednesday morning and are expected to continue intermittently throughout the day. Strong winds of 30–40 km/h are blowing, and the temperature ranges from a low of 11°C to a high of 20°C.
  • Noida & Ghaziabad: Early morning drizzle coupled with gusty winds increased the chill factor. Residents are advised to exercise caution on slippery roads.
  • Varanasi: Cloud cover persists, reducing sunlight exposure, with isolated rain likely.
  • Ayodhya: Morning showers accompanied by strong winds caused chilly conditions. Motorists were seen using vehicle lights due to low visibility.
  • Sultanpur & Barabanki: Cold winds combined with light rain created a damp, chilly morning for residents.
  • Gorakhpur: Cloudy skies with a chance of light rain; temperature drop observed.

Bundelkhand & Western UP:

  • Jhansi: Morning clouds gave way to heavy rain around 4 PM, continuing till 8:30 PM, along with thunder and lightning. Farmers expressed concern for mustard, chickpea, and pea crops. Dense fog is expected tomorrow.
  • Bulandshahr, Shamli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Amroha, Hathras: Rain and hail accompanied by strong winds led to falling temperatures, causing difficulties for residents and potential crop damage. Farmers in Baghpat reported hail affecting potato and wheat crops, while sugarcane and paddy were also at risk in Amroha.

  • Avoid unnecessary outdoor activity due to rain, hail, and strong winds.
  • Farmers are urged to protect vulnerable crops, especially potato, wheat, sugarcane, and paddy.
  • Drivers and commuters are advised to use caution as roads may be slippery, and visibility may be reduced during heavy showers and thunderstorms.

With the western disturbance active, the state is expected to witness continued rain and cold winds over the next few days, particularly affecting eastern and western districts.
