Tejashwi Yadav Holds Review Meeting Without Any MLAs: Raises Questions About Its Purpose

Patna, January 17, 2026: After returning from an extended foreign tour, RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav convened a review meeting following the party’s defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. However, the meeting has raised eyebrows, as none of the party’s MLAs were present, prompting questions about the actual purpose of the gathering.

Political Context and Timing
Political circles suggest that Tejashwi’s review meeting was in part a reaction to the “dahi-chura” feast organized by Janta Shakti Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav, which signaled the emergence of a new political center within the Lalu family. Even party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s attendance at the event highlighted growing family dynamics within RJD.

Who Attended and What Was Discussed
The review meeting mainly included RJD’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members. Tejashwi reportedly attempted to fill political gaps through their presence. Yet, the absence of MLAs raised questions, especially at a time when NDA leaders were claiming that 18 RJD MLAs were in contact with them. Critics argue that Tejashwi should have engaged with loyal MLAs to strategize ahead of the upcoming assembly session starting February 2, 2026. Key topics like legislative priorities, floor strategies, and local issues could not be properly addressed without MLAs.

Family Tensions Surface
The review meeting also exposed internal party friction. Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, dismissed the meeting as “showmanship” and criticized the leadership. She urged Tejashwi to address internal dissent (“vultures” around him) and take responsibility for the party’s electoral losses. She attributed RJD’s defeat in the 2025 Bihar elections to poor leadership and flawed ticket distribution.

Looking Ahead
With the legislative session commencing on February 2, the absence of MLAs from the review meeting has sparked debate about the party’s preparedness and strategic planning. Observers suggest that engaging party legislators will be crucial for RJD to present a coherent front against the ruling NDA in Bihar.
