
Sambhal, UP: In a heart-wrenching incident in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, a 9-year-old girl was brutally attacked and killed by a pack of stray dogs. The girl, Riya, was mauled so severely that one of her hands was torn off. The horrifying attack occurred on Sunday evening while she was collecting fodder with her mother and grandmother.
Attack While Collecting Fodder
Riya, a student of Class 1 at Gautam Primary School and daughter of Vinod alias Bunty, had been walking behind her mother, Mamta, and grandmother to gather fodder for goats and buffaloes. Suddenly, a group of 10–12 stray dogs pounced on her. Her mother and grandmother rushed to her aid, but the dogs continued the vicious attack. By the time help arrived from nearby fields, Riya had suffered fatal injuries, including the loss of one hand, which could not be recovered.
Previous Complaints Ignored
Locals say that stray dogs have terrorized the area for months, injuring nearly two dozen people. Despite repeated complaints, no effective action has been taken by the authorities, leaving residents vulnerable.
Police Response
Police confirmed that the girl was attacked by stray dogs in Pota village, Hazratnagar Garhi area, and succumbed to her injuries despite being rushed to the district hospital. Her body was sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway.
